RIP Amy Winehouse

Tributes and tokens of love kept flowing from Amy Winehouse fans outside her home in Camden Square, where the iconic British singer-songwriter died on Saturday, 23 July at the age of 27.

Numerous fans and TV crews can be seen outside Amy Winehouse London residence. Flowers and candles mix with art works, photographs of the singer, cards with lyrics, devoted to Amy’s memory, as well as drink bottles and cigarettes among the memorabilia on her shrine.

A 1932 poem by Mary Elizabeth Frye reading “Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there. I do not sleep.” is there on a tree trunk in Camden Square.

One of the singer’s fans, a 23 year old artist from Twickenham Sean Burtenshaw, donated his mixed media portrait of Amy Winehouse to her bereaving family. “I just wish I could have given it to her personally,” – says the artist.

A post-mortem examination took place on Monday, 25 July. No cause of death has been established yet. Results of further toxicology tests could take up to four weeks.

Amy Winehouse cremation in Golders Green followed a private service at Edgwarebury Cemetery in Edgware, north London on Tuesday, 26 July.
